His expertise includes forming nonprofit corporations or private foundations by trust; obtaining federal and state tax-exempt status under the appropriate classification (e.g., public charity, private foundation, supporting organization, or social club); guidance to individuals making charitable donations or planned gifts to nonprofit or tax-exempt organizations; forming subsidiaries of existing tax-exempt organizations; counseling tax-exempt organizations on the development of internal policies and the review of existing policies and activities of the organization; compliance with unrelated business taxable income rules; structuring joint ventures with for-profit entities or other tax-exempt organizations; and guidance on obtaining tax-exempt financing.
